The Guindy national park popularly called as the Children’s park is situated in main area of Chennai city. The park is situated in Guindy near to the RajBhavan.

The park h houses nearly 40 black bucks, 24 jackals 2000 spotted deers. Also present are a broad range of snakes, tortoises , 100 bird species and more than 60 butterfly species and spiders are present .
The park also houses a various varieties of invertebrates like ants, grasshoppers, crabs, slugs, snails’ earthworms, scorpions’ mites and spider. Annually nearly 7, 00,000 visitor visit the park

The [ark has a rich amount of flora and fauna. The flora comprises of 24 varieties of trees like the sugar apple, Neem, wood apple and Atlantia Monophylla.

The fauna comprises of the fourteen varieties of mammals. They include the chital or the spotted deer, blackbuck, jackal, hyena, palm civet, three striped palm squirrel and the common mongoose.

The park houses nearly 150 varieties of birds like the grey partridge, parrot, crow pheasant paradise fly-catcher, quail, Honey buzzard, Black winged kite,shike, robin,koel,drongo,medium and large size egrets, pond and night herons.

The Guindy snake park is next to the Guindy national park. Here a visitor can see the King Cobra, vipers, pythons.  And other reptile species.

The Guindy national park is opened from 9.00am to 5.30 pm on all week days. The park is closed on Tuesdays.
