A small town located at a distance of 60km is Pulicat. It has a 17th

Century Dutch cemetery. In 1609, the Dutch constructed a fort to have relaxed stay at the coromandel; coast for an extended time. In the year 1825 the British at last occupied it. Once after the country gained Independence, the fort become a component of Madras which later was rechristened as Tamilnadu in 1968.A Dutch fort is also present at Pulicat which got .shriveled even after renovation.

Due rot h presence of a number of lakes and monuments, it is worth going on a trip to pulicat.The Archeological Survey of India looks after the cemetery. The Pulicat Lake is the main place of attraction. A land strip separates the lake from the Bay of Bengal which includes the town of Pulicat.Due to the closeness to the sea; the Pulicat Lake is converted into s saltwater lagoon. The place is India’s second biggest lagoon and takes pride in having a rich biodiversity.

Hence the lagoon is conserves as a wildlife sanctuary. A swarm of animals like the aquatic, fiah, terristial birds finds a safe haven in this place. The place is the center for the most frequent wandering birds like flamingoes .Nearly 15,000 flamingoes uses to visit Polecat each year. Some of the other visitors are the Kingfishers, Herons, spoonbills, painted stoks,ducks and spoonbills On the opposite side of the lake, a light house is located. All this make Pulicat an ideal place for tourists.
